Assessment of the longer-term effects of a dietary portfolio of cholesterol-lowering foods in hypercholesterolemia
Look at the conclusion of this study. Basically, the consumption of a variety of cholesterol lowering foods was just as effective as the use of statin drugs. If this is the case, then why do we still see such a huge push to medicate all patients with a pulse and a cholesterol level a hair over 200 mg/dl? I think part of the problem is that doctors don’t feel the patients will comply with a healthier diet.
Personally, I don’t think any physician has a right to decide for a patient, but that doctor better damn well given the patient their options available so the patient can make the decision themselves.
