Systematic review of long term effects to reduce dietary salt in adults

Okay…I’m a little confused here. This is a review article done in one of the major medical journals and the authors find that intensive salt restriction has little effect on blood pressure. Easy to understand. However, in the next breath they give the recommendation that “reduced sodium intake may help people on anti-hypertensive drugs to stop their medication while maintaining good blood pressure control.” Huh?? Is anyone else confused? No wonder we can’t figure out whether this intervention is effective or not!!
