Short- and Long-Term Safety of Weekly High-Dose Vitamin D3 Supplementation in School Children

It is funny to be in the middle of the research on just how much vitamin D we really need for optimal health. The research is incredibly supportive on the safety and efficacy of dosages in the 1,000-4,000 IU / day range, and yet the RDA sits solidly at 400 IU. I wonder just how long it will take before those numbers start to budge. 1 year? 10? 20? This will be a great indicator of just how delayed implementation of the research is at the public health level.
