Pretreatment with Lactobacillus– and Bifidobacterium-containing yogurt can improve the efficacy of quadruple therapy in eradicating residual Helicobacter pylori infection after failed triple therapy

I’ve said it before, and I’ll ramble about it again–I firmly believe that H. pylori is an opportunistic infection that gets a foothold when the lifestyle of the patient is less than optimal.  There is also quite a bit of evidence suggesting the probiotics may lower the number and damage done by H. pylori.

I would also infer from this that antibiotic use may actually be a risk factor for development of H. pylori infection.  Quite a turnaround from current thinking.
