Melatonin Treatment for Age-Related Insomnia

This study found that melatonin supplementation in the elderly helped to restore normal sleep cycles. A few things to note here–melatonin restores normal sleep, unlike the pharmaceutical sleep aids which interfere with REM sleep. Also, the lowest dose used in the study was just as effective as the higher dose without alterations in daytime levels of melatonin. Remember–if a little is good, more is not always better!
