Fish Oils Actually DO Prevent Cardiac Death’s

FISH OILS NOT EFFECTIVE FOR PREVENTING HEART DEATHS.  Sounds disappointing, huh?  And I’m sure this is what we’ll be hearing from the media and doctors everywhere.  The reality is that 1 gram of fish oils (considered a low dose) given for a year, is not effective at lowering the rates of sudden cardiac death in patients who already had a heart attack.  Duh!!  I’ll be the first to admit that lifestyle changes and supplementation are powerful tools (actually..THE most powerful tools) for managing and avoiding chronic disease.  But there are limits.  They are NOT drugs and do NOT interfere with normal physiological processes.  The idea of using healthy fats to lower our risk of cardiac disease is a process that occurs over years, not a single year, at low dose, in a population that has already made the wrong choices.  So long as we continue to do studies on natural approaches and natural products as if they were pharmaceutical drugs that are specifically selected for their strong and rapid ability to interfere with the way our body works, the general consensus from the uneducated will be that “that stuff doesn’t work.” Read More…
