Prescription of teratogenic medications in United States ambulatory practices
I know I’ve been beating up on traditional medical practices in this issue, but I’m just reviewing them as they come in. This review founds that MILLIONS of women get drugs during pregnancy that could potentially lead to birth defects. As far as I’m concerned, any medication use during pregnancy should be avoided unless absolutely, positively necessary. Even when a drug is deemed safe, this was based on birth outcomes–there are few long term studies every done on how a drug given during pregnancy may effect long term health or development.
