Caffeine is known to stimulate the adrenal glands to release medullary products (adrenalin/epinephrine) and this will cause an increase in glucose floating in the bloodstream. It may be by this mechanism that caffeine ingestion in this study blunted the body’s ability to get glucose out of the bloodstream.
