Flexion Distraction for
Disc Herniations/Ruptured Disc

Disc herniation. Ruptured disc. Disc bulge. Whatever you call it, it sure sounds serious. And if you've ever had it happen to you, it is. The pain can range from an annoying local back pain to severely disabling back and leg pain, keeping you from doing anything except standing up, lying down and hoping it will end soon. Sneezing, coughing and even going to the bathroom are events that create unbearable amounts of pain. Your doctor orders an MRI or CT scan, gives you prescriptions for anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers and sends you off to physical therapy. A month later you start feeling a little better, but the pain is still keeping you from work, from playing with your family. Surgery is suggested. You just want your life back.

Is there another way?

Yes. Many decades ago a technique called flexion/distraction was developed by an osteopathic physician named McManis. Unfortunately, for varied reasons, the technique was abandoned. Luckily, in the early eighties, the technique was revived and improved upon by the chiropractic profession. The technique is now referred to as distraction or flexion/distraction adjusting. It involves the use of a specialized table to provide gentle and very controlled traction of the lumber spine to help relieve the pain and promote healing of an injured disc.

Can Flexion distraction adjusting help me?

Many patients respond very favorably to Flexion distraction treatment if done by a well trained physician. Many patients go from intense, disabling pain coming in for the initial visit, to being able to go about many daily activities WITHIN A WEEK. Now, this doesn't mean your condition is gone. This is only the beginning of care. But now you are on your way to being out of pain and realize that there is hope for full recovery. Not everyone responds this well, but most do. What do you have to lose by trying Flexion distraction therapy?

Should I wait and see if other treatments work first?

That decision is yours alone to make. But, the longer the time span before proper Flexion distraction treatment is begun, the harder and the longer it takes to recover. Far too many patients come into the office months after the injury, still in pain and out of hope. These patients will require a longer time span to recover. By coming to Lifecare Chiropractic first, we will know by the end of the first week of Flexion distraction adjusting whether you are going to respond. If no response is seen, then you can choose other alternatives. Would you rather try a more effective, less invasive first; or after less successful, more invasive procedures have failed? The decision is yours.

Why Choose Lifecare Chiropractic for Flexion Distraction Adjusting?

Flexion distraction adjusting can prove very beneficial in the right hands. Unfortunately, in inexperienced hands it can be much less effective or even dangerous. Dr. Bogash has had extensive training in Flexion distraction adjusting. This includes 2 years of one on one training from one of the most knowledgeable and talented physicians in the field using this technique. He has even had the special opportunity to teach this technique to many other doctors taking training courses for Flexion distraction adjusting. Place your care into the hands of Dr. Bogash, a competent, skilled and knowledgeable physician.
